Life doesn’t always introduce you to the people you want to meet. Sometimes life puts you in touch with the people you need to meet – to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you, and to gradually strengthen you into the person you were meant to become ~ Mark Groves
Although I don’t necessarily believe that everything happens for a reason, I do believe that I have the ability of choice and can choose to learn from every situation and relationship, whether it’s intent is to encourage growth or inflict harm. There are lessons and strength to be gained from all of life’s ups and downs. I have chosen, and will continue to choose, to roll up my sleeves, get dirty, and do the work. Not just lip service.
When it comes to human relationships in particular, I am so fortunate to have an amazing group of humans surrounding me and supporting me. I feel grateful to call them my friends. Unfortunately, there are those who seek to undermine, to poison and to ultimately lift themselves up by tearing others down.
I have always endeavoured to stand in my truth, my strength and my integrity. And although I choose to learn from every interaction, experience and relationship, I also choose to walk away from those that bring drama, toxicity and are calculated in their intention to inflict harm under the guise of care and concern. A difficult choice, one that I have not always had the strength or resilience to choose.
Life will continue to move forward, providing valuable lessons, should I choose to embrace them and learn them. Through it all, I have mindfully set my intentions to remain present, brave and kind.
